CALL FOR PAPERS Ad limina, is a new journal specialising in the history, practice, art, architecture and geography of pilgrimage, primarily in Europe and the Near East. It is published under the auspices of the Musuem of Pilgrimage at Santiago de Compostela and has an international advisory and editorial board. The 2011 issue contains articles on the emergence of Montserrat as a pilgrimage centre, Pseudo-Turpin, the cult of St James in Portugal, Diego Gelmirez, Penitential pilgrimage and the Sélestat manuscript of the Liber Miraculorum sanctae Fidis. The editor of Ad limina, Rosa Várquez, is actively looking for contributions from Anglophone scholars, both on English pilgrims and pilgrimages to Compostela, Rome, Jerusalem etc, and on pilgrimage and pilgrimage centres in the British Isles. Friday 20th April 2012, 10.00 am - 1.00 pm, Seminar Room A (Research Dept), The Victoria & Albert Museum, South Kensington, London SW7 2RL. South America in South Kensington: Objects from the South American Collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum, an ARTES/V&A Research Dept Study Morning. A series of short talks by Museum curators, conservators and external specialists on South American textiles, sculpture, ceramics and metalwork in the V&A collections. Members of the audience will be have the opportunity to handle the sculpture and metalwork objects. This event is free, but places are limited. There are 15 places reserved for ARTES members on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is followed by Reception and Concert, Study Afternoon: 1.15 – 5.00 pm; Reception and Concert: 07.00 – 8.30 pm. The opportunity to learn about the history of the Pórtico de la Gloria and the plaster reproductions made for the V&A in 1866, including entry into the Cast Court to examine the reproductions in detail and learn about the restoration work being carried out by the Barrie Foundation.
