About Us
ARTES was founded in 2000 and aims to raise awareness and understanding of Iberian and Latin American art. Based in the UK and Ireland, it has members throughout Europe and in America. Scholars and enthusiasts worldwide are welcome to join.
As a member you will receive invitations to lectures, exclusive visits and private tours of exhibitions and collections of Iberian and Latin American art in the UK and Europe with leading experts. You will be updated with what is happening in the field worldwide via regular email updates. Every autumn you will receive InformARTES, a newsletter containing articles, reviews and information on publications, exhibitions and events in Iberian and Latin American art as well as exclusive events for ARTES members.
Once a year you will be sent the special visual arts issue of The Hispanic Research Journal. The December number of this highly respected publication, is edited by a member of Artes and a member of the similar USA association ASHAHS (American Society for Hispanic Art Historical Studies - see Links), and dedicated to articles and reviews on fine and decorative arts, design and photography in Iberia and Latin America.
